Yeah your question is a little to open ended. What type of fishing will you be doing.

Thanks

What is your budget limit? $20, $200, $2000, $10000, or $1 Million? Are you going to be fishing off the bank or boat?

A good all around rig is a medium light to medium spinning rod with a medium spinning reel. Shimano, Daiwa and others make good ones. Spool it with 6lb test and you will be good to go. I mostly use 2000-2500 series Shimano reels. A Sienna, Sonora or Sedona will work just fine. These can be found for $30-$50. For a rod you can get a Wally Marshall or B&M jig pole for $40. I have used Wally Marshall line in the past but I am now using Sufx neon orange in 6lb test. Add a pockfull of jigs and plastics are your good to go. You can find everything you need at Academy.
