I didnt wanna get the bassbuster thread off topic - so started new thread.
Ive mounted my trolling motor up front on my pelican bass raider. I was having a hard time keeping the boat straight going against the current and wind.
I wondered if I would have better control with motor in the back.
How do you guys have yours ?
I wonder if there should be a separate forum for Mini Pontoon boats, so we dont take up the floaters forum ?

make a rudder out of an old oar, use a clamp to mount it When i had one i took a piece of 1/2 in.sq.tubing about 14 in. long and pop-riveted a piece of 12x12x1/8 in. aluminum to it and used a small c-clamp to hold it in place on the transom.
I would agree with you , but then we would both be WRONG !!!!!

A fellow on another website was having the same problem. He placed his trolling motor in the back of the boat with plexiglass in the l shaped part of the motor. The man said it made a huge difference during windy days. The rudder was easily used at the same as the troll motor.

thats a good idea on the home made rudder.
I just swapped my 30# trolling motor for a 40#, and im moving it the back to see if that makes a difference.
If not, then ill be making a rudder for it.

After thinking about this my TM has a small rudder on the bottom I am not sure I have seen this on other TM maybe thats why I don't seem to have the problems. See photo

Put your TM on the back where it belongs and you will not have that problem.
