Son graduates Memorial Day weekend and want to take him deep sea fishing in upper Texas or Louisana. Any suggestions and what would you be fishing for ?? Thanks in advance.

Go to Venice, LA. Hire a private charter. Amberjack, grouper, wahoo, tuna, shark. Maybe kingfish or ling too, but might still be too early for them. Shorter runs to deeper waters out of Venice.

LandPirate said it right. Hard to beat trips out of Venice.

+2 on Venice

Can someone explain how the Feds count recreational Red Snapper catch?

Daddyboy - I have never fished out of Venice, so I was not going to respond here. However, it seems you have not had many response so I am putting down the three captains I would look into given this opportunity based on reputation on various forums. So take it for what it is worth and in no particular order.

Capt. Damon McKnight Super Strike Charters 1 800 318 1720
Captain William Wall Pelagic Charters 1.225.454.5365
Captain Eddie Burger H20 Offshore Charters (985) 788-5080 (C)

Venice. Can't go wrong with Eddie Burger or Paradise Outfitters Capt Hunter Caballero.

I took my son to Key after high school and Venice after college.
We fished inshore at Venice and a variety of species in Key West.

Both trips were awesome

Good luck.

I will add that Venice offshore is about $2300+ a day. Guide and Lodging.
