First post on this site so here we go!

Recently just got back from Iraq after a year, and wasn't able to fish the Texas area before deploying. I am wondering the best places to go from Killeen area. Also need some advice on gear to use as I am stocking my equipment up from moving from Oregon and its trout, steelhead, and salmon! Time for something different. Where's some good shops/stores to gear up? Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks guys!

welcome

This link has reliable and good information Best places close to Killeen. I would like to amend, Colorado Bend State Park is NOT in Lampasas, but a nice drive west of Lampasas to Bend, TX, and then, when you get to Bend, you will drive 10 miles on a rough, caliche road before reaching Colorado Bend State Park. The White Bass Run and Spicewood Springs are worth it, though. Also, in Lampasas at the junction of 190 and 281 is Hancock Park, where you can fish easily. East of Lampasas, just north and east of Wal-Mart is Gunderland Park where you can also fish.

Welcome home, and thank you! flag
