Sorry to those that know the people that run this place, there are guy on here who have said some positive things about them, so this is isnt a shot at them or their fishery, just something I want to get off my chest and let others know about my experience, so they can avoid the issues I had.
Back in early January I sent an email to Camelot Bell to book a trip with my Dad, to give him a REALLY good shot at a trophy bass and be able to take him on his 70th birthday in the first week of March. At that time it was 800 dollars a day for two people. (expensive, but maybe worth it to get my Dad hooked up on the fish of a lifetime.)
TWO months later and a week before Dads birthday, I get an email from them stating it was 1000 for one person and 1200 for two people. So now the price has gone up A LOT, even though i tried to schedule back when it was 800. Not only that, now its too close to Dads birthday for me to schedule time off and just too expensive. I could barely justify the cost when it was 800...
Im very disappointed that they took soooo long to respond and pretty much shot any plans I had regardless of cost and then quoted me new updated higher prices, even though I tried to schedule way in advance when the prices were much lower.
end of rant, for those who go there, I wish you the best of luck, Im sure its a great time... but for me, based on my experience they wont be getting my business

I've never heard of Camelot Bell. $1200 for two people for a days fishing seems a tad high to me. Look at a trip to Falcon with him. We all like catching a fish of a life time but I'm sure he will enjoy the time spent with his son more.

I guess I have problems......I have heard the first step is admitting it...JK I am not sure I follow the original post...if you wanted to book the trip the first week of March why did you not just call and book it two months ago?

I am sure there was more to it... Maybe they did not get your email or voice mail when you where trying to book. Really you should have keep trying to actually talk to someone or get a confirmation. Did you get something in writing??? Just because you left them a message does not grant you that it is booked...
Secondly, I have never fished there but have heard alot about it. They can charge whatever they want. If it is quality then you pay for quality. Again I do not know who owns this place nor have I ever been there. I own a Duck Club and we are considered to be on the high side. But you get what you pay for. $1000 or $1200 or $800 is cheap to catch a bass of a lifetime. My biggest is 12.5 and I have spent alot to catch that fish.
Thats my 2cents for what its worth...

Hire a good guide on Fork or Falcon for half that and your chances are still decent. Sorry for the bad experience.

That sounds like a bad deal. Hopefully this post wont get deleted and others can read about your experience so that it might not happen to them.

His post sounded to me like they just got around to answering his email. A big catch is nice and a very good thing to do for his father. I personally think his father would enjoy just as much spending the time with a thoughtful son. Look at taking him some where else. I don't see a big fuss over this. they were late responding and the price increesed by $400. I would be a tad upset to. Not saying anything bad about anyone, sometimes things happens.

All they did was not answer an email.
The guy is in the business of selling fish, not guided trips.

I don't have any thoughts on Camelot Bell but I will tell you this. I just spent a week on falcon, gas driving to and from Oklahoma and for the boat, hotel for week, food etc. came to $1150. That was for two of us and my truck with 35" tires gets 9 miles a gallon pulling the boat. I'm sure your dad would love to catch a good fish but I would think spending a week of quality time together and possibly catching a giant would be money better spent, atleast for me. Best of luck.

As mentioned earlier, book a Fork/TB/Rayburn/Falcon/Amistad/Ivie guide and you will spend less $$ and actually fish a lake NOT a pond AND your father will probably have more fun!! And you will learn about how to fish some public waters that will bring you years of enjoyment in the future!
