I'm considering mounting my Structure Scan module on the step of my boat. Unfortunately, unlike some larger boats, my step does not extend across the entire width of my boat. See below.



As you can see, the step angles away from the middle of the boat towards the back corners. My questions is, what is the launch angle of the Structure Scan transducer? If the launch angle is sufficiently large, I can install the transducer on the step and not interfere with the signal. However, if the launch angle is quite shallow, the edges of the boat around the step will block portions of the signal. So...does anyone know what the launch angle is or if mounting the transducer on the step will interfere with the signal?

It needs a clear shot 90* to both sides. I don't believe your step is going to work. Mounting it that close to center can cause cavitation problems also.

I think you might be OK there as long as the lower surface of the
transducer is lower or even with the central portion of your
transom. It's kind of hard to tell exactly what you've got
going there with that pic, but that's how I'm interpreting it.

If you can get it mounted right in the corner where the transom
sweeps out to the back, you should be OK. Just can't tell how
much room is in that corner. Might take a little Aggie ingenuity
to get it in that spot. Maybe epoxy a mounting surface onto the
hull in that corner that will let you get out from that corner where you
can get a flush angle to mount the bracket on.
