I have used for years and still use Shakespeare Ugly Stik rods. Reason is they're tuff and dependable. I've also always used mono and in the past few years have gone to fluorocarbon as well. I'm seriously looking at using braid on a couple of my reels, but not sure about some things related to it.
During a recent visit to BPS (aka Disneyworld for guys) I had opportunity to talk to the G-Loomis and the Berkley reps about rods. One told me that I needed to use specific rods made for braid or the guides would be eaten up like a hack saw. The other rep told me it wasn't really an issue nowadays like it was a few years back.
I'm leaning toward the Power Pro brand of braid. Any thoughts or suggestions is appreciated!

alot of the rods run ceramic inserts when they used to be plastic and I believe ceramic will hold up.....or just run rods with stainless eyes and no inserts like ProAngler.......

If yours rod have ceramic guides you never have problems using braid, the braid can't distroy ceramic guides.
