That what was said about the 4500's. I have 13 of 'em the regular 4500's and the 4500cb, most if not all of 'em are at least 25 yrs old or older cause i've had them that long. A little heavy, but man they last like the bunnie. They keep going and going!

I have some 4500c and cb's and 521's.
I have supper tuned them. I replaced the bearing with abec-5 and put carbon drags in them.
I have large hands the smaller sized reels dont feel comfortable.
They cast great with improved distance.
The Abu made Swedish reel will last a lifetime with minimal care.
I have owned my 4500 and 521 for over 25 years they work flawlessly.
I agree their low profile reel have been sub par in design until recently.
Shimano made the first low profile reels that most fisherman love.
Now most companies copy the feel of these reels.
