I'm going from a 587 to a 597 HD DI can I "pull" my waypoint off my old unit and put them on the new? I have a Navionics lakes chip in, do the points save to that? Help me here or it will take me years to even hook up with one.

Remove the Navionics card.

Yes, you can Export your GPS data to a blank/formatted SD card and then insert that card in the other unit. The menu term is called Export All Nav Data.
It will automatically load the data to the other unit's memory if the unit is powered on.

Do not write files to your Navionics card.
