The Family and I are going to stay on the beach at PINS Wednesday thru Friday for spring break. Looking for any advice and information. Some questions are what to use for bait in the surf? Will fish bite day and night? can I walk from the surf side to the bay side and is it worth it to do that.

thanks

You can walk to the bay but I would not. It is a bit of a walk through some steep dunes, but you may be up for an adventure. The fish will bite in waves really, right now the big species are pompano (they look kinda like a piranah) and whiting (a smaller kinda drumish looking fish) both are very good to eat and can be alot of fun to catch especially with ultralight gear. The best time is fishing with the tides, but try all day and/or night. Honestly dead shrimp is the best bait I have ever used out there, but cut mullet, and blue crab do well also. Hope this helps

If it were me, I'd take some lighter weight gear and at least one heavy pole. Fish dead shrimp in the calm area (if there is one) just past the first set of waves. If you catch something that can be used for cut bait, use that to load up your heavy pole and heave it out. I've caught bull reds earlier in the year even.

Good luck. PINS is just about my favorite place on the planet.
