I am looking into buying a boat that is out of state. The state in which it is from does not require titles. I am trying to get a loan for the boat, but it's proving difficult as the bank requires a title before they will hand me the money. Do any of you have any experience or pointers for this?

I did mine with USAA. It's not an unusual situation, you'll just have to find a bank, and a loan officer, that's dealt with it before.

I did mine at DuPont/Goodrich FCU They handled it with no problem. I had to spend the night waiting on FED/Ex to deliver the check but everything else went smooth

Even if he doesn't have the title, he should have a Manufacturer's Statement of Origin (MSO). Take that and the bill of sale to the bank; it will get you the Texas title. After you've paid a ton of taxes.

That doesn't make since, not what you said, but what you were told. You can't get a title with out the person selling it to you first, which means you need the money first.

A bill of sale should be sufficient until you get it titled in Texas. Matter of fact the bank should be offering you the option to let them handle the title work for a small fee.

I bought my boat from AR, same situation and didn't run into this problem.
