Slow today on Lake Tyler East...Caught 15 with only six keepers all in deep water (21-28ft) drift fishing. New to the lake with today being the first day fishing for crappie. Fished from 8:30 am to 7:00 PM. Not even a bite in the shallow waters in the coves that you can see from Co Rd 230. Maybe a couple of days before they return to the shallow waters.

To the TFF! Lots of good spots on the East lake. I used to live about a mile from the Hwy 64 bridge and fished the lake since before it was even full. A great pre-spawn staging area is the main lake point on the West side of the lake, North shore of Old Omen Rd cove. 30' or so from the bank is brush, for probably 50 yards from the point into the cove. Not hard to find with good electronics. Good luck

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach
