I mainly use chicken livers but see pictures of big cats caught on shad but Im not sure how to rig it any suggestions

Scale them, cut tails off, fillet big ones, chunk up smaller ones, use heads......try different cuts and whole till u find what they want that day.......

Do you put the perch on live or dead? Do you take off the scales or cut it at all?

Ive caught all my biggest fish with perch heads on 8/0 circle hooks. Seems to work better than shad for me.
