Wouldn't it be neat to have a cookie cutter in the shape of a crappie rib cage? You could just stamp out those rib cages! The inside could be spring loaded and you could squeeze it down for smaller fish. Hmmmmmm

Make a prototype & get a patent. Some folks have gotten rich on alot less!
I'd probably buy 1 cool

It would have to be really sharp though, and you would have to have a left and a right one. Unless you do it from the backside, but I like to see the ribs from the inside.

No, it's too easy to just cut them out with a sharp knife. Takes about 1.5 seconds. All Crappie are not the same size.

Don't waste your time and money on a patent. Been there and done that. If you have someone infringes on your patent, and they will, you have to go after them. That takes an attorney and more money than you will ever make off a product like that. Sorry to rain on the parade. But you can always call yourself an inventor if you are successful.

Agree with Dutch. Spending time and money aquiring a patent is a complete waste of time unless you have the financial resources to pursue patent infringements in court. A patent does nothing for you outsid of court. It does not keep other people from copying your product and then selling it in stores. A patent just allows you to sucessfully sue them. And even then you may lose your case in court if they prove that they made a slight change to your design. They could change the direction of the curve around the edge of the product to be 1 degree different than your patented product and win. Not only would you lose your case, but you would probably be ordered to pay their court cost and attorney fees.

All that aside, I like your idea. What really makes using a knife is that "v" shape piece of meat that takes extra time to cut around. I hate that "v".

Nobody said your product won't sell. I think it probably will. Just don't waste your money trying to patent it. Sell your product, get rich, and don't worry about the copy cats.

I just had a thought. I don't have the skills to make anything like that, just wish someone did! I'd buy one! I don't have time to make money, I TEACH! Lol

You would have to sell it as a set, one for right handed fillets, and one for left.
