I got up early this morning(4am) and decided to throw a frog
in the rain for a few hours at a local pond...tossing my frog in some running water that feeds the pond-I heard a towlet flush in the dark and watching my frog float back up unharmed-No more bites so I returned to the same spot abot 10 am, but this time I had my Jig with me instead. Chunked it our there between some reeds and it started moving away immediately-I tried set the hook but my rod hit the tree branch above my, I felt tention but it wasn't good enough, she got off. Since this spot is only about 10 feet wide I decided to give it a rest for a few minutes and try again. FLIP- She hit it again but this time I set the hook good(I thought), I felt her for a few seconds and then she rolled and was gone. Reeled in and could clearly see my knot has come unwound somehow?!?! My jig was gone so I ran home and got the same jig'n'trailer and tossed back out to the same spot-and as soon as I saw the line move an inch I set the hook like I never have, reeled as fast as I could without feeling like the line was going to snap-I felt like I wasn't going to turn her but as soon as she got close enough I grabbed her lip and supported her belly.

I instantly placed her back in the water after I saw how big she was-Called my wife to rush over to get a picture for me. I didn't have my scale with me and would really like an honest opinion of what you best estimate of the weigh might be?

Simon Peter said to them "I am going fishing" They said "We are going fishing also."

Nice!
It looks like an 8#

Your experience and 1st photo reminds me of this creek that I often went to before the drought dried it up (although now its past the normal level from the rains). You must be good and pitching and flipping as there's thick mesquite trees and shrubs all around the bank.

Bigger than I have ever caught, so I wouldn't know how big.

I say HUGE! Congrats.
