after greg poche was announced the leader after day 1 of the classic, he said he was using something he was for sure no one else was using. all i know was that is was a soft plastic stick bait that he had made changes to.

Greg Vinson

And it was a senko with a small Colorado blade (beetle spin size) screwed into the back

I made up a couple rigs like Poche was using...had some spare blades, etc. Gonna test them out next week...we'll see if they catch'em...:)

This classic did not have a stand out bait from a major tackle company that can sell a fortune in lures after a win, like Hank Parkers win with the Manns Classic Spinnerbait way back when and KVDs square bill crank last year and before the red eye shad rattle bait. A classic win is a manufactors quest didn't happen this year. More like low key baits this year like senkos and other stickbaits , tube baits, Gamlers ugly otter custom made crankbaits and such, liked to see Ott Defoe catch em on the ole school shad rap. Congrats to Keith Poche for a great finish and his innovative bait, the bite was a grind and he fished strong.
