I'm heading out there later this week to one of my bank spots there that produces pretty well in March. Hoping to land some nice ones like I did last year. I guess we'll see.
A bad fishing day to me is sitting at home.

I was at lynn creek barge today from 9:30 - 1. I had 1 nice keeper and the guy next to me caught 3 in seriously 10 seconds. All pretty nice. A young man caught one as did 2 other people. The bite turned off after the buddist people did their monthly prayer and released 520 dozen minnows off the walkway. Yes, 520 DOZEN! All the keepers I personally saw were nice and fat. Had this cold front not come in, it would have been awesome today. Tomorrow should be pretty good.

Joe pool specials. I've only caught one legal crappie there. The rest have been about nine to nine and a half inches That is funny you mention that. I used to fish Joe Pool consistantly back in the early 1990's and all we ever caught were 9 1/2" crappie. There were a lot of them, but they were all 1/2" undersize. I figured the lake was still too young to have nice fish in it, but apparently that is just a lake that doesn't grow them very large.

Don't get me wrong I've caught my fair share of smaller ones that I released but I've also landed some nice ones. I've never fished the barge before though. I do hear a lot of people say they always catch undersized ones there.

What reason could they have for letting loose that many minnows?

I have a slip at Joe Pool that I have sunk 5 fake christmas trees in, and I wear them out almost everytime I am down there, consistently catching 10-12" fish, with 13-15" fish often. You got to put the work in to make it happen on Joe Pool!

Note to self. Buy binoculars and spy on the boat docks.
