Guys,
I'm looking for a reliable, sensitive, lightweight 'flippin' stick. I've used several in the 7'3-7'6 range rated Heavy for 3/4-2oz weights and have liked some and hated others. The things I've liked is sensitivity and lightness and the things I've not liked so much are the guides that break or bend or the rods that feel brittle in my hand and not sure if a Texas sized hookset will render it inoperable or not!
Long story short, I'm on the hunt for the perfect 7'6 flippin' stick, versatile enough to flip heavy matted grass/hyacinth and also for standing timber/trees and medium cover tullies/reeds. I have a great 7'0 MH rod I use for jigging and pitching texas rigged plastics, but I want a heavy hitter in my arsenal for the bigger weights when using a 1.5 oz punch rig and heavier 3/4-1oz jigs in heavy cover.
Please weigh in and let me know which ones have the characteristics of:
* 7'6-7'10 range * Micro Guides * Ultra Sensitive * Lightweight * Good Guides that don't split or bend (inner or outer) * Strong/Reliable on big hookset or big fish.
Lastly, Price! Sub $220 please, preferably in the $150 range.
Thank You!

I have a Castaway skeleton series flippin stick 7'6" with micro guides and I love it. It is second to none I have used on hookset. I set the hook a little to hard I think, I actually bendsome hooks out. It cost me $180. I wouldnt trade it for another...and it is made in the USA.

Try BP's carbon light, you can get them with or without the micro guides. Around $140, I love mine The BPS Carbonlite is my most favorite rod in my arsenal, HOWEVER...I do not trust it for a heavy flipping/pitching assault. I broke two of them on a hookset and also lost a potential PB that was pushing 10/11 pounds at the boat because the braided line cut into the inner eye of the cheap guides that they use, thus snapping my braided line!!! It was devastating. I use their 7'0 MH and own 3 of them, but only for senkos, flukes and light pitchin'. I'm looking for a similar style rod to the Carbonlite but more stout in the micro guides and reliable and one that will not snap under a heavy load with bigger weights and heavy tactics like punchin and flippin/pitchin into the nasty stuff aka Okeechobee, California Delta, etc.

Scott Luft, VP of manufacturing at CastAway explained to me about thier choice of microguide to build this rod with, called "K" series or something like that, anyway supposed to be the premier microgide out there, not as tiny, but stought built and designed to eleminate "wind knots" with braid. this is a priemer rod, and meets every characteristic you asked for. For what you are wanting I would suggest the castaway skeleton, either the grass master or the flipping stick.
I have a bunch of flipping sticks, Powell, American Rodsmiths, Castaway and 6th sense customs. And I like the American Rodsmiths H3 Titantium Ultra for flipping with Fluorocarbon best, and the Castaways and 6th Sense anytime I am flipping braid. The Powell flipping stick is a good rod but definately not the first one I am gonna pick up.

Try Big Bear. I have a 7.3 3/4s heavy and it's awesome. Got into a bunch of big fish last week and it performed like a charm. Really light, super sensitive and the grip is the best I've ever felt.

The castaway. I held dflippers for about 30 seconds and decided to buy one. Im thinking It's the old castaway big show blank because It's much stiffer than my skeleton telescopic flipping stick and both my skeleton and xp3 grass master. It's a beast
I can backlash toilet paper.
