 Spring Break and a New Lowrance HDS Side Scan Sonar....I'm Pumped!!!

I will be installin HDS with LSS this weekend and have all next week to play with it on Rayburn, I couldn't be more excited! (At my age...well you young wippersnappers don't understand...but you will)
Anybody have any suggestions at to any pitfalls to installation that I need to avoid. Or any settings that you recommend to a novice.
I have over 5 years of experience with a LMS-332 so lots of the stuff in the manual (which I have already read from cover to cover) is very familure.
****OH...and will I be able to use a SD card to load the HDS with my icons and waypoints from my LMS-332???

Congratulations! No experience with Lowrance, but I've been playing with my Humminbird 998 and it sure opens a whole new light on fishing.

If you have experiance with Lowrance, you'll do fine. I put my HDS-10 & HDS-7 on my boat, and didn't have any problem. Just make sure to put the TOGGLE SWITCH on the LSS-1 where it can be turned off. If I remember correctly it is in the instructions. But it wasn't hard. Congrats, and Enjoy ! ! !

Throw the wiring manual away. Wire the red to positive and black to negative on both the LSS and HDS unit. Then wire the yellow LSS to the yellow HDS and you are good to go. Congratulations on the new unit!

The worst part is drilling/cutting a hole into your boat,and running the cables  .It really is not that difficult though.

Installed my HDS 10 with no problem.... just hated drilling holes in my boat but well worth it... Love my Lowrance... The Down/Scan Screen Shots are out of this world....   Good luck. Keith
Crappie fishing... what else is there ??

ooooooh, cutting hole in my precious...never! Well unless i absolutly had to, i did just install a couple more bee readys and that didn't hurt. That hds 10 sounds like some cash, is it?

HDS-10 Gen-1 is about %1700-$2000 according to where you buy it.

Congratulations on the new unit! I did just that....installed without any real problems except for the wire routing difficulty. It all worked the first time I turned it on. Thanks!! BTW my advice is to pull a rope thru when you pull out your old wires and cables to use to pull the new ones in. Also have an old coat hanger handy to help you fish the heads thru.

I just taped the new wire onto the old, and pulled. Out with the old, in with the new.
