Buy the ReArm kit for your model of Mustang at Basspro for about $78 and follow the instructions. It's that simple.

Unscrew the old cartridge, replace the ferule (sp?) and screw the new cartridge into place. The green indicator will show in the window when your vest has been properly rearmed.

We did one of the older ones last years. There is a release valve that is the one you blow it up with orally. There are pdf instructions on their website.

Rearming kits for $25 are for auto PFD's that inflate when the cartridge plug dissolves in water - from falling in the lake, or, sometimes, rain, splashing water, humidity, etc. Rearming kits that cost around $75 are for the auto inflate PFD's with "HIT", or hydrostatic inflation technology. PFD's with HIT, like the Mustang HIT model, inflate by hydrostatic pressure when immersed in 4" or more of water. But the HIT models don't inflate from rain, splashing water, humidity, etc. That's why the HIT PFD's cost more and so do the rearming kits. The rearming kits are good for 5 years as long as the indicator button is green. I have to replace mine in 2013, assuming I don't fall in the lake before then.

In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.
