The Revo will out cast the Citica but it is harder to "tune in" especially if you use it for multiple different weight lures during the day. The Citica is a lot easier to tune in. That is not my opinion, that is just one more way that the reels differ.

I like the Revo, no wait, it is the Citica, but possible the Revo, no I am sure it is the Citica??
This question will get you no where, buy one of each and make up your own mind. You will find some positives and negatives in both.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and offer this as your final solution, save your $120ish for the revo or citica and buy 2 h2o mettles plus a red rat-l-trap, lunch, and boat launch fee and go fish them. They are not the same, but they have a lifetime warranty and will probably be to your liking.

I have 2 citica's and 1 revo s, hard to pick a favorite. The revo does feel more solid but it really comes down to how it feels in your hand. Both are solid reels.

I loved both, but recently I've had 2 shimano (a citica 200 and a curado 50) both have the gearing go out. The citica was on my personal best, which I had to hand line in because it went free spool after something popped on a hook set. My revos have been rock solid for 3 years now... If only they made a revo 50!

I have 10 Revo's and haven't had a problem with any of them.
Having said that I had a Citica that I gave to a buddy. It is a good reel. You need to go hold both and decide which one you like best. There is a pretty substansial size difference.

Thanks. And Rick I love your post. I will be fishing them this weekend. Unfortunately I am a poor teacher who has saved up the $ for two and I fish from a kayak. Fun , but limited in where to fish. I thought that the Rick Clunns and the extremes were good but I have never owned this expensive a reel. A good friend who owns many Daiwa Steezes said that the Citica and the Revo S are comparable, and both have pros and cons. So I guess I will find out this weekend. Thanks again.
If you know of an old Dagger Bayou 2 tandem kayak I am interested.

They're both good reels. I honestly think the biggest factor at this point, between those two, is which one feels better in your hand. Both brands have a group that has 46 of one kind of reel for the past 24 years and "never had a lick a trouble with any of em." And there's the group that says they bought one of that same reel and it exploded into a mushroom cloud on the first cast and caused their boat to sink or something...
I have used Revo's because they're more comfy in my hand. I've owned 8 Revo S's, replaced the level-wind in one of them over the 6 or 7 years of heavy use and been satisfied with their performance... The oldest is as smooth as the newest-- good enough for me. The Citica is a great reel and I liked the one I borrowed for a time after several of my rods were stolen.
Just pick the one you like better.

As stated above, quality keeps falling, prices keep climbing. This year I bought 2 Mettles, 1 Manic and 1 Menace, all 3 are great reels. And I spent a grand total of $280. I wish I would have heeded the advice of a friend 4 years ago who was involved in the development of them for Academy. Same VBS braking system as the Shimanos for a whole lot less $. Smooth cast and retrieve and easy to adjust for the wind. I was reluctant because I wanted to see how they held up. Since then, I've spent over $800 on a 4 or 5 Citicas and Curados when I coulda had 16 brand new Mettles. If you're the kind of guy that won't buy Magellan fishing shirts because they don't say Columbia on em, stick with Shimano, Quantum, Abu, etc. But if you want to spend more $ on gas to find fish instead of on overpriced reels, the H2O's are great.
