that's awesome. as a teacher you can almost never know whose lives you're changing. i say almost because sometimes they'll contact you! i still hear from former students and their parents.

The last couple trips out I've seen some young guys fishing either at docks or along bridges. Each time I've given them a lure that was "catchin" to keep them into it and hopefully help them out some. I caught a fish at EM the other day and a kid ~13yrs old saw me flop it in the boat. He asked a bunch of questions about what I was doing, and how I was doing it. So I pulled out a few chigger craws, and hook and sinker and rigged one up for him. I pointed at a log that I had lost a 7lber on that morning and told him she's still in there. I could tell that a 5min conversation and a few cheap baits totally changed that kids day. He was fishing a rattletrap under a bobber originally.

What a powerful statement for the young man. Thanks to all who helped these young people experience a "dad" for at least a short time. The original post brought tears to my eyes.

I live in Ft. Worth and fish by myself alot and wouldn't mind taking a young man fishing that doesn't have the chance to fish otherwise. My fishing buddy, my son, is over in Afghanistan right now and I am missing him.

Thats awesome! If there are any young anglers that are needing to get on the water that live in the Texoma area, PM me. I lost my father 2 months ago at a very young age(29). If it wasn't for him, I probably wouldn't love this crazy sport we do. I would love to help a kid out and get him started in the right direction.

This is awesome. I can easily understand where this kid is coming from. If it wasn't for some awesome guys that God put in my life to lead me with life and fishing, I'm not sure what is be up to. I'm sure it wouldn't be anything positively productive.
