Folks, new to the south Texas region, plan on fishing Amistad and Falcon quite a bit, both for tournaments and pleasure. Got Falcon lodging under control, but have never been to Amistad, so need some advise on reasonable lodging. Looks like most of the time we will be launching at Devils East, so whats available within 20 miles, reasonable, prefer no hotels, but hotels not out of the question, need help!!!!

I allways stay at Anglers lodge. It is right there by the lake, they have a great tackle store, and breakfast burritos. The rooms are ok, the parking has electric outlets, and the security is good. Did i mention they have breakfast burritos?

Close to Diablo East, you really don't have many options. Amistad Lake Resort is close by..owned by Elite angler Byron Velvick.

+1
That's where we stayed and it's like he said. Hamburgers, too. And they can pretty much duplicate any plastic bait you want, also, if they don't have it. Have fun, Kenny!

Anglers Lodge is good for the anglers but, if you have family especially with kiddo's Amistad Resort has a pool. We have stayed many times at both and neither are really family oriented but if that's a consideration Anistad Resort is a better choice imho and experience. If 20 minutes is your limit I believe you could get by with some of the hotels in Del Rio.
if hotels are out you might consider Ruthie's at Rough Canyon. They have mobil homes within walking distance of the launch.

At least my boat and truck are paid for, woo hoo!

The deals are in town right now. We gotta room for $47 including tax two weekends ago at the La Quinta. They were very accommodating with the boat and electricity. All night food in the front at a Pan Cake House and a super good buffet at the Steak House on the other side.

No more roaches, fuzzy TV or sheets and blankets that are at least 25 years old. Rooms at the three places on the lake are in the $60s now and all three need some serious work.

The breakfast burritos and Hamburgers are now across the street from Angler's Lodge. The lady who left Angler's there openned up a nice place and cooks wonderfully. I can't think of her name but she has a big smile, curly hair and a petite shape.

Anglers Lodge. Nice bait shop too to go along with pretty good food for your belly. They do alot of custom baits, pours and paint work on lures.

The place across the road from Anglers is named Roosters and is owned and operated by Angie W. She does an excellent job on breakfast and burgers and she is nice to look at and to visit with---

Not sure on lodging, my buddy lives down there and I stay with him but buy gas in town, that exxon there where they highway splits is always way more expensive.

Angler's Lodge gets my vote. Stayed down there at a lot of places, the Lodge is pretty cheap and convenient with the grill and tackle shop on site. Only thing I have to leave for is gas.
