My neighbor down at Amistad says he talked to an engineer who told him they still cant get the gate closed. Also it wont be accesable till the lake reaches 80ft low.Surely this is B>S>.Does anyone know anything about this.I dont want to believe this.

Im pretty sure it was fixed a couple of days after... the water is dropping because of Mexico taking so much... its expected to drop I believe 15 more feet before they slow down... not positive on that though

The problem is when it drops that low that fast, the grass don't have time to grow. Back in 98 when it got to its' all time low 14 lbs. was winning the tournaments. When it stopped going down and became stable the grass took off and was 30 ft. deep. There was a total ring around the whole lake. It was good for a topwater bite and jigging that deep grass was the ticket.

The only ramp that will be left open at that level will be Diablo East. Talk about on heck of a long walk back to the truck.... Brutal!!!!

I'm here at Amistad now. For those of you who were not familiar with the lake prior to 2006 you will not recognize the place. Completely different lake.

My lord how far down does diablo east go that it could still be usable 50' low?

I can't imagine that lake without grass. Is there timber left that deep? Seems to me that with no grass to key on you are looking at tens of thousands of acres of indistinguishable rock points and ledges.

Was their in I think it was 2002 when it was 60ft low, anyway you would not believe all of the area at 454 you could launch right off of the gravel banks.

Had a game warden tell me they have a issue with one gate. Will not close all the way.

They will not let all that water out unless it is an impossible situation. They know that the lake has been on a 8 year drought cycle its' whole life and it can't afford to loose that kind of water during these periods of time.
There will be launching at Diablo and Airforce for a long time.
Then they will put the heavy grids in at Box Cnayon to put in off the point. All will be well, lets keep our fingers crossed.

Was there for 5 days over the week end, They had divers going down last thursday to remove some limbs from the gate. The lake is dropping 1/2" per day. They plan to let 5' or so for irrigation down stream and shut it off was what we were told.
