I've had similar experience with the one in Dallas and Baltimore, MD. Cabela's isn't much better.
No more BPS or Cabela's, I try and shop the smaller on-line sites and Mom & Pop stores.

I feel your pain. As a contractor I have to deal with so many supply houses who don't know the difference between there butt and a hole in the ground. Believe me if you carry a product and don't know anything about it I feel the stupid sighn should come out. I don't know who's the blame, the store or the suplier. I am well known at some for just coming out and saying you are a dumb ars! Find me someone else. My time is money is all it comes down too. As far as retail goes such as BP, Cabelas, and Academy just look around. Most of them are fresh out of high school and the pay is low. Most big retailers don't care about the employees and are treated as such, so why should the employee give a hoot. I do know for a fact since a good friend works at PB for over 5 years that they don't care about the employees and think they get over 50 applications aday at one location someone is easy to replace in a phone call. Running my small business is a pain at times and I know many of you are in the same boat as I. Running a BP would just be a night mare for me just trying to keep up with employees who really want to be there and take care of the #1 issue, the customer. The customer is what keeps the company going. I hate to hear about your issue and feel your pain. I will have to add on behalf of employees working anywhere, they have to also deal with some real bad coustomers on a daily bases just because the coustomers are trying to get something for nothing. I'm not pointing fingers here I think she was out of line with the smart mouth and wish you the best of luck on your next return. These days a lot of folks are so selfish and at work or were ever they treat good folks like [censored] just because they think they can. It would not hurt to send the a link to here to show them where the good folks are. They may learn a thing or two.

Djren12, sorry to hear. And to me , don't apologize about ranting/ venting, bring it, it's good for the soul and helps a lot. Especially with all of the awesome yakin' anglers on this forum. I haven't been on long but I like the people I have met so far.
As for the incident, I feel ur pain as well. Most of the employees at the garland BPS I know personally and I talk fishing often with them. A few try to push stuff on me but I usually don't give them much time. That manager talking about kayaking probably has never been kayak fishing, was having a bad day because she was getting everyone else up there in a bad mood , and she needed to take it out on you. So, really, you were probably doing her a favor. Man dj, I don't even know you and already you are a good Samaritan.
Ok, all kidding aside, I hope that things work out for you and that you have a great fishing venture the next time you go out.

I've had nothing buy bad experiences at the Cabelas in Allen.

Haven't had a BAD experience in a long time. Surprised you got a bad PENN. Any time I have had a problem with something from Academy, they've been able to make it right. Don't shop a whole lot at BPS or Cabela's but, I try to be careful what i buy from & where because of their store policies. If I do have a problem, like you, I want to be able to get it fixed, but quickly. Maybe you shouldn't have waited so long to return the item. Now, I have heard of stores allowing store credit as a solution in a situation like yours though. If it doesn't work out for ya, I think there is a place in Dallas that rebuilds PENN reels. Maybe someone can help us with the name. I'm sure it will all work out somehow. We know our sport is really growing! Other just haven't realized it yet.

Just a sign of the times, low wages, gets you a non knowledgeable clerk, that may be working in Guns today and working in Women's clothing tomorrow. BPS has gotten too big and is just another big box type store, where know one knows anything about anything. Just another mass peddler of Chinese made products. I stay away from them if at all possible. They don't even have the best prices anymore. Sounds like you need to report the Manager, and her conversation to the home office. She needs to find employment somewhere else.
