Was looking at buying a new sonar/gps since mine went out last year and thought that one of these models would give me the most bang for the buck. Is there a big difference between these two, seems like its just a half inch difference in screen size, which isnt a big deal breaker for me, especially at nearly 200 dollars cheaper. Thanks for any input
Looking at the 587ci di and the 597ci hd di

Yep, the narrower screen is a cheaper part. The rest of the specs are the same.
Additionally the 587ci HD DI was a special run model for a particular sale period and is not a regular production model. It is not shown on the Humminbird web site.
Basically is was a new model and a legacy model at the same time.
