no need to marry one, just keep a few hanging around, usually they are not all mad about your fishing at the same time, LOL!!

Doug, don't believe everything that Red Ranger tells you about girls from the Philippines. I have been married to one for almost 20 years, but wouldn't trade her for the world!

Thanks for all the comments...makes me not feel so all alone. I am still in the crying/mad as hell stage right now. Maybe my upcoming trip to Amistad will put things back into perspective.

Just remember it could be worse. She could have stuck around and kept B****ing about your fishing and really making your life Hell.

You will survive, after I got divorced I found a real good one that wanted to learn to fish and now goes all the time and she has gotten pretty good at it too.

You are right though Amistad will take your mind off everything else.

I read these post and smiled.

BUT today while fueling the work truck---A young woman drove up in a NICE ford mustang in the back seat was a border collie. She stepped out of car an proceed to fuel up. She noticed my Lucille , border collie, so we struck up an conversation about dogs. This girl was 23 cause I asked. While talking dogs I noticed she had two rods in the passenger seat of the car. I asked " those your husband/ boyfriends poles?" She replied "nope their mine--never can tell when you get a chance to go fishing" I was stunned. I asked ' you fish from the bank." No no no I bought me a entry level 18 foot boat with a 150" I was amazed ! I thought nope your dad owns the boat and you just use it..

I asked her what she did to afford a boat at her young age. She told me she went to nursing school and was now a RN in the O-R room. She was on call at times but she had lots of down time to go fishing. I know I must have had this 'wow' on my face. She said " I am an 'ole soul' that likes ole time rock and roll, cold beer, fishing, and hunting." Hunting?" She continued " I really got into deer hunting while in high school. I hunt on a lease in south texas with some friends, this year I am learning to shoot a bow."

There are some good ones out there...

I agree! Married a lady from Lindale and she is the best! Wants to fish almost as much as I do! Never complains when I need to buy something new for fishing or for the boat! I mentioned the other day I wanted to buy a power pole for the boat and she thought it was a great idea!

That's funny but true, mines from Pittsburg TX.
I'm truly blessed, they don't call me the best net boy on fork fur nothing cheers

I have been divorced for over 15 years... I can go fishing anytime I wish, don't have to explain why I need 20 rods and reels and still need more tackle before each trip... all I have to worry about when I get back home is if my dog is still in the yard.

This guy is my hero!!!!!!! Deerfarmer hate to hear you story, things happen for a reason. You other guys have me laughing so hard I'm crying. I'm recently married, I hope all goes well for me. Got married and then sold my boat. She told me she was so happy I was going to be smart and save money while we are starting out, I may be divorced when she finds out I'm ordering another.

My wife knew how much I love to fish long before we got married. Her dad fished every weekend of his life, except when he was hunting, until he died. Her mom even told her, "I just want you to understand because I was married to a man like him for 37 years. They have fishing in their blood, and you're not going to change it."

To her credit, she's never tried. She usually gets a little tired of it by June of every year, when tournament circuit season is winding down and I've fished a tournament or prefished every weekend, sometimes both days, for six months. Then I cut back some the rest of the year and she gets over it.

Oh...and it doesn't hurt to marry a woman who is over 30, either. By that time a lot of them have that possessive, "I need you in my sight at all times" stuff out of their systems. Truth be told, they probably enjoy being able to do whatever they want when you're gone.

I was married 8 years and divorced in 1995 and stayed single for 17 years now to Fish. For years i looked for a companion that liked to fish with no luck so I chose to stay single. While I miss having a companion, I would miss fishing more If ever ask to give it up. Its nice to just pack up on short notice and go fishing at Falcon or Amistad without any problems.
