we fished it last year as a paper tournament also and second place was 6 lbs.
First place was 14 lbs but they did catch a 9 lb bass.
The weights were real real real low. I would go to Athens if you could. We just fished it and 20 lbs won it ( paper also).

ya they put grass carp in there and there is Zero Grass now! So now u have to rely on ur graphs and being able to figure out a pattern. I went last Oct and ended up with prob 18 on my best 5! It started out tough b/c the lake was down but once u figured it out. . . those bigger fish showed up! there are still plenty of toads in that little lake!

well the grass helps the babies hide from other fish. Yes there are still bass but TPW I think learned that the messed up fishing at a great little lake.

i hope they learned...ive never heard one GOOD comment on grass carp results..there is a small private lake near palestine that was ruined by them as well..you could catch 12-13 lbers(yes seriously) in there but now i hear you cant catch any over 2 lbs...it took many years but for some reason the fish died..no not moved deep..they died..not sure why

The vegetation increases the oxygen levels and shade to make it easier on the bass in the hot Texas summer maybe? That is my (somewhat) educated guess...

Perhaps TP&W has realized it wasn't the best idea for this lake. They're working on it.
