Anybody ever fished below the Inks Lake dam? Really to many big granite out croppings for me to take a fiberglass boat up to close but a good friend of mine takes his aluminum up there during the hot summer and does quite well in the cooler water. Later this spring the whites will be back up there as well. I have gone up to the cable barrier several times. Hug the docks on the lhe left side and you should be ok. Once past the bridge I just idle.

Have any of you guys caught shad on that lake? I have caught shad on there several times. past the dam and under the bridges. Sometimes they are in there thick and other times you got to work at it.

When you leave the cove with the ramp in it make a left and there's a couple rockpiles right out in front of the park that hold good fish. I usually fish the reeds inside the rockpiles in the morning with topwater with good results then move out to the rockpiles and t-rig them when the sun comes up. I have a friend thats caught 3 DD fish of those rocks. My biggest off of that lake is 8lbs off same rocks. Down by the dam there's a pretty big cove with alot of standing timber that looks like the best bass cover on the the lake but it doesn't hold bass for some reason. I fish it everytime I go just hoping one time they will be up in there but haven't caught a thing up there yet. Good luck, when they are biting its one of my favorite lakes when they are not it can be tough. Fish the lights at night, lots of good whites and some crappie in them.

mgid006 has a lake house for rent if you don't want to camp. And if you like bass, it has some good ones.

If your fishing with live shad anchor under the bridge around the second set of pillars from the left. We have caught some nice striper's there.

Have been looking for a place away from the immediate Austin area to fish. Since I do not have a boat, are there areas to fish without a boat?

Bank fishing is great there. You can also rent a canoe or kayak for a 24 hour period or a few hours. Our favorites for bank fishing is the rock bluff directly down from the welcome center (near the amphitheater) and Stumpy Hollow (located on the SW part of the lake). Easiest way to get to Stumpy Hollow without a boat is to drive south from the park entrance on Park Road 4 and about 1/4 from the entrance there is a pulloff and you can walk down. There are other pulloffs further down that you can walk down to some nice coves. Along the bank of the old golf course is really good too...one great cove. Bring you camera...pretty park!
Pray for a return to our Constitution.

We were hoping to visit this park for our first time over Spring Break, but there were no campsites available, so we booked a site for Easter weekend instead.
I'd love to do some bass fishing while I'm there, but it'll most likely be only bank fishing (unless I happen to rent a canoe or kayak, which is doubtful at this point).
Any specific help for how to get the most out of bank fishing for bass at Inks would be very much appreciated.
Thanks...

Pick you up some range cubes and toss them out to bait a hole for catfish.
