My trolling motor bit the dust and I am wanting to save money and try and remove the old one a put the new one on myself. When I went to remove the screws on the mount, they just turn and turn. They won't come out and now when i try to tighten them they just spin, yet the mount isn't loose? What am I doing wrong?

does it have the rubber mounts? If so they are probably busted on the bottom side. My boat has a panel up front you can remove and access the bottom of the bolts. You need to hold the bottom side or cut the bolts with a sawzall and install new ones.

There should be nuts and washers on the underside. You will have to get a wrench or socket on the nuts, then you can remove the bolts. Hope this helps.
If the phone doesn't ring, it's me. I'm still fishin!

I want to pull everything off.

then the only thing I can think of is to cut them. Where are you located does it have the rubber mounts? If so they are probably busted on the bottom side. You should be able to access the bolts through the panel where the trolling motor plugs into. The factory puts the motor on after the boat is put together so they have to access the bolts somehow. Unscrew the panel pull it to the side and you should be able to ge to them.

Get a freind with a long skinny arm. It will help when trying to reach those nuts. The furthest foward ones are the tough ones. Also wear a long sleeve shirt. Those fiberglass splinters are mean. If was me doing it I would just drill the bolt heads out or use a grinder to remove them. Thats generally the fastest way.

I'd go to Parker Boats in Amarillo, I think they are close to you. I bet they could get you fixed up in no time at all.

Cut, grind or drill. Heck if your patient you can sand the heads off.
