The Sabine River bass tournaments will begin Tuesday, March 27th, 2102.

You may pre-register at Simon Outfitters, located in in the MacArthur Shopping Center in Orange (near Parker Lumber) and get entered into a drawing for a free gift certificate. Winners will be drawn weekly.

You can also sign up at the public boat ramp on Simmons Drive the day of the tournament from 4:45 p.m. - 5:15 p.m.

Okay guys, this one is not getting very much attention and we are less than three weeks out.

The expectation (and hope) is that there will be a bigger turnout this year than last, but that will not happen if we do not talk about it, at least occasionally.

I fished most of them last year but will not be able to this year until the end of April. I work late on Tuesday until then.

Wish they were on Thursday's!

I am hearing that some of the "regulars" that fished last year will not be able to fish at all due to different goings on in their lives.

Some people will not be able to fish until after high school and/or little league baseball season has ended.

All that said, please let everyone know about the tournament and tell everyone that they can call or go by Simon Outfitters for all tournament information.

I am hearing of a lot of new people trying the tournament out this year. If anyone in the area has never fished one, it is a blast. There is nothing like a 3 hour dogfight for over 500 dollars on Tuesday night.

What's the deal with these? Start and stop time? 5 fish or what?

New to the area and would like to fish them if I can work it out. I work until 5 in Beaumont so I will be pushing it for time.

I say we start having some on Saturday's also.

The tournament start time is 5:30 p.m every Tuesday. The stop time will vary in the beginnig due to the variation of what time it actually gets dark. I believe that 8:00p.m. is going to be the scheduled check in time for he first one, right now anyway.

The tournaments will be held at the public boat ramp lacated on Simmons Drive in Orange (near the shipyard on Green Ave.).

Each tournament will be a Team format, with the best legal three (3) fish sack taking home the top prize. Based on the total number of teams, additional payouts will be paid to the second and third place teams.

The entry fee is $40 per team. An individual may fish by his or herself, but will still be required to pay the full team entry fee of $40.

There will also be an optional Redfish and Trash fish pot that each team may enter. These prizes will be awarded for the heaviest legal slot redfish and heaviest trash fish.

Last year there were three or four Saturday tournaments. So I am certain that there will be some Saturday tournaments sprinkled in the mix this year as well.

Remember that EACH INDIVIDUAL must fish at least ten (10) tournaments to be eligible for the championship tournament. That tournament will be held on a Saturday to be named at a later date.

Anyone with a boat need a partner? I won't have time after work to get the boat ready before the start time but would like to fish.

If for some reason my partner can't fish I would gladly take you with me.
