Well, based on the numbers that checked in, we have the top three places spoken for.

I guess now we just have to get on the water to battle it out to see whether we will finish in the first, second, or third slot.

I would expect more boats to have legal fish. I have been out twice for like an hour each outing before the rain and have had a few fish over the 14 inch mark. Even with the muddy water from the rains.

hobo...yeah, last year we all EXPECTED to catch a limit of legal fish in each of the tournaments that we fished. Unfortunately, some of us had to do the "walk of shame" on more than one occasion.

You should PM me the GPS coordinates, lure(s), and presentation that have allowed you to catch those elusive keepers that are so hard to come by on tournament day.

All kidding aside, it is a very fun and well managed tournament to participate in. You should grab a buddy and come on out to claim your share of the prize money.

Last year there seemed to be about 30 or more spectators for the majority of the tournaments. So even if you are unable to fish, come on out and talk fishin' with some like minded folks.

Hope to see you there!

I am off tomorrow and will be trying the burn out bridge area and a marsh lake alittle farther north. Since I am not going to be able to fish the tourneys for awhile I will let yall know how it goes.

I've been fishing the Sabine since the 1970's and buddy I find it hard to catch many 14" fish. Naturally, having fished it so long, I have caught many 2-4lb fish up to 6lbs but mostly catch 12"-13" bass with an occasional redfish mixed in. I do like the numbers of bass that I catch, usually 20-30 on average, but struggle with the size. What is the secret? Is it the lure or the location or the dynamite?

I struggle most of the time as well. But last year there were many tournaments with 30 boats and only 1 or 2 legal fish brought in total. I am just saying it should be better than that early in the year. I don't have the secret. I do believe location plays a larger role than lure. I have never fished it much in the spring and probably got lucky on the few decent ones I have caught.

Boat4life...it seems you are experiencing what most of us saw while competing last year...a lot of fish, just not many keepers. I guess that is why we do it, right?
