Last March I decided to go out with some bright red 1/2 ounce football jigs to a really small pond with no cover. Before I went out I soaked the jigs in BioEdge crawdad scent and had rattles on the jig and had a Lucky strike bright red craw on the back of it and literally caugt a 4.5 pound Largemouth right when I got there

Two things, you imitated a favorite natural bait for bass, crawfish. Second, a "small" pond. Small ponds are very limited on forage for bass, so most will try to eat anything that hits the water. Congrats on the nice catch.

Use a Hags undertaker jr on the back. It will stand up . pitch it in your livewell before you ever fish it and you will see why it works so well. The sweet tator color is somthing you need to check out.

look at all the different plastic craws available and find the most natural shaped ones and use them as trailers I use a whopper baits boxing craw or whopper craw jr. my jigs and it works well. Which one I use depends on time of year and profile. They help the jig stay upright or stand up due to way they are poured. I use football jigs 90% of the time, they tend to stand up better than other head designs.

Well, I have the jig, rattles, and trailer but I dont have the scent (BioEdge crawdad) will this make a big impact????? And would having the trailer float up behind the jig help at all? And will rattles in the craws of the trailer do anything? Also is there a way I can doctor up all my bright red craws/trailers to make them even more attractive with sharpies or die? Do you guys think Clear JJS magic could help the bite?

You are overthinkin it. Bass eat a jig it is a staple in there diet. They like em red, blue, green it don't matter. It's like askin should i take a sharpie to a bluegil. The jig is outlawed in a lot of places bc it is live bait. It is way more effective than an a rig. It has been responsible for more bass victims than the LMB virus. Please use cation handling.
Pond fish will eat just about anything. And just about anything will eat a jig. Its like throwing a bag of gummy bears in the middle of a room full of kids. They wont last long.

Pond was the key word! They will eat anything, and have'nt seen many lures. I whack alot of fish with jigs on ponds, but have little success with jigs in the lakes.
