While out on the Brazos yesterday and today we saw 100+ dead fish and more that were dying on the top of the water. We tried fishing yesterday, last night and today with no luck. The water level was pretty good and much better than a few weeks ago. We put in at Rochelles yesterday and headed upstream. We only had to drag in 3 places and on the trip back we went thru 2 mini rapids. We made camp in a new spot and had a blast by the campfire. It was disappointing to see so many dead fish. Does the Brazos have this issue every year?

I'm at PK right now but got here this afternoon and didn't fish. Water looks like ice tea. Historically that's a sign of golden algea.

How long does an algae bloom typically last on the Brazos?

Ive seen a major decrease in the # of fish in the last few years. We use to catch plenty for a river side fish cook out while camping. Now you can do the whole 20 mile trip and only catch a few little ones. I dont think they are spawning. Or being able to live long enough to get to any size or numbers. Just my 2 cents.
