The Curado E and the Chronarch G are the same reel. Exactly the same except for the color. I've checked the schematics and all internal part numbers are the same.

I loved the old Bantam frame Shimano Curado and Chronarch. In IMO the Chronarch 50mg is one of the best reels ever made. To me there has always been a diffence with a nod to the Chronarch mainly because they stay tighter longer. As far as smooth operation and fishability you cant go wrong with either.

The new "E" models Curados are great reels too. From what I have learned the "G" model is made in Malaysia and the "E" model is made in Japan, I cant tell any other difference.

I own both. Several Curado E's and Two Chronarchs. One Curado is a 300E which is a beast of a real for power in a low profile.
Others are 200 E-7's and two E-5's. They all have been fished in tough use situations and have held up flawlessly ( so far ). The chronarchs seem a tad smoother. I don't fish them as brutally as I do the Curados. My favorite reel of the whole lot is the 300E Curado. Drags on all the reels are extremely smooth, without any chatter, and don't tighten up as line pull and drag washer heat increases.

It may be my imagination but the Chronarch seems lighter, which I notice after fishing all day. Have 7 Currados though which I love. $$$$'s were the deciding factor.

Fishing is not a matter of life or death,
it's much more important than that!
