Where does the article say it wasn't released? It's my understanding you don't have to kill a fish to test it's DNA. Are we just assuming the dude ate because he was catfishing?

Where does the article say it wasn't released? It's my understanding you don't have to kill a fish to test it's DNA. Are we just assuming the dude ate because he was catfishing? that an the fact that in all of the pictures the fish looks dead
