OK guys, I don't own one yet butI was wondering what you thought about these boats as a entry boat. My home water is Lake Alan Henry and I am only making about 10-12 trips out there a year. What do you think? How easy to resale, gas, mech. problems, anything you got. Thanks

I held off on replying to see what others might have to say. I'm a Tracker dealer in Austin, Tx. and we sold 30/35 Pro Team 175's last year and I think it provides one of the best values in the industry. One thing you might consider is opting for the largest motor that what ever you choose is rated for. We have very few complaints about these boats other that it's under powered. This was normally a customers desision based on price point. Other wise they are hard to beat. Also, if your purchasing soon they are offering Bass Pro Shop gift cards up to 1,ooo.oo.

Looks like you are fishing from a kayak now. I traveled down the same road you are on, I would say pull the trigger. I have the same type of boat and love it, it allows me to go fishing more often than my brother does out of his glass boat. I can fill up my 6 gal tank and use it on three trips if I wanted to. My truck doesnt use much gas pulling the boat. cant help you with resale due to the fact I am not selling my boat. As for longevity, my boat is an 84 I plan on giving it to my son when he turns 18(hes 7 now).
Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst

I had a 16-foot aluminum Tracker, I really liked it. Light weight, I could easily move it around the driveway myself. Easy to maintain. Goes forever on a little gas. It had a 35 hp Evinrude and would top out at 28 mph with 2 adults plus gear. I'd say get all the horsepower you can afford.

Fished out of a 16' lowe quite a bit with a 50 hp on it. While the electrical componets were lacking on the boat it ran fine and fished good. Would run around 30mph, not a speed deamon by any means, but it did just fine fore fishing.

I currently fish Alan Henry in a 16 foot starcraft comparable to a tracker. I love it. I can get in, get out quick an easy. I can fish shallow or deep....I can get all the way back up in the shallow coves...hence my name.
The only draw back is...the wind. You will be blown around in an aluminum boat. There are days where my trolling motor going full blast will barely keep me still. I still love it though.

With the tracker boats, lots of items have been eliminated from the basic boat such as on board battery chargers, spare tire, stainless prop plus only a 12 volt TM (low thrust at that), minumal hp outboards. When you add all the little things you will want the price will be somewhat different (much higher). I just shopped at a Tracker store TODAY and had planned on driving out with a new rig but after seeing all the items I was going to have add I left with out the new rig. Just know what you want and what you are paying for up front.

i got a 2011 175 last year, no complaints yet, to me the motor makes the boat, how can you go wrong with a brand new 4 stroke merc. mine has a 60 on it and goes plenty fast, i even pull tubers and knee boarders without a problem , it was a bit lazy to plain, common for a 4 stroke but since added a hydrafoil that fixed it, but my bros ranger with 250 4 stroke yamaha takes a while to plain to, i told him to try the hydrafoil but hes hard headed.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I have also been looking at a lightly used Triton Explorer 17. Do you guys have any thoughts about moving up to fiberglass boats over alum. for your entry bass boat?

The explorer has better livewells, and can be had with a 24 volt trolling motor.but other than that it"s pretty cheaped out and also underpowered, decent front deck space though.

Only problem I see with them is they are usually underpowered. Plus they come with cheap electronics. 12v trolling motors etc.

I never owned a 175 but way back when, I bought a TX17 brand new, the only gripes I ever had with the boat was the storage compartments lids not having seals around them like their fiberglass counter parts, from looking at these boats it looks as if they have yet to add seals to these compartments. The reason I say this is important is everytime I was out in the rain in that rig; weather it be towing or fishing, water leaked into the storage compartments and all my gear got wet. I'd have to take it home, put it in the garage, and pull everything out and let it dry out. The other thing was fishing stability, but this is common with boats this size made from aluminum. I had a pro pole seat up front and I don't know how many times on Fork I had to grab for the pole to keep from falling out of the boat. They are a lot more stable if you fish in the seated position, rather than standing or using a pro pole.

All Pro Team boats for the last 2/3 years have welded, drained rain channels for forward storage and rod lockers. Keeps things dry. The wet storage has been fixed ,which shows that Tracker is listening to their customers.
