Do any of you know how to Cook Chicken Fried Bacon I know you can fish and don't want to take that away from you at all. I have tried every way I know how to cook this bacon but I can not get the batter to where it is thick enough. If you know how please let me know there was a place on I-10 called Nannys that made it and it was awesome don't forget to dip in Ranch Dressing.

I'm not a lady, but have you tried to batter it, then freeze it? Go straight from the freezer to the hot grease and I think you'll have better luck.

Grant2, The kind of women that are on the TFF, and are into fishing are NOT INTO COOKING!!!!
If I were to get in a domestic mood and actually cook breakfast, it would be the pre-cooked bacon from a package all the way. But I must admit, I do appreciate a man that knows his way around the kitchen, good luck with your efforts,- might have better luck with a recipe book though! noidea

You are right but if you try this bacon you would forget all about the package stuff.

Try dusting it in flour before you batter it. That way the batter will stick.

for a crispier batter, use water or beer instead of milk. Then dust bacon in flour as surfergirl said.

Hey Grant2,
If any of the suggestions work, let me know. I've never heard of chicken fried bacon but would love to try it. Sounds yummy.

Streater- don't you know that you're never supposed to trust a skinny cook?

As for the beer batter, try it like this...

-Equal parts flour and corn starch
-Beer to the consistency of pancake batter (thick but still pourable)
-Tony's Creole seasoning to taste

The darker your beer, the more flavor in your batter. I reccomend a very "wheaty" beer- Sam Adams, Fattire, etc. Adding extra Tony's will spice it up real nice. You can also add Tabasco or some other pepper sauce.

This is also wonderful for thin sliced zuccini.

Just remember... catching is only half the fun! Happy cooking. cheers

Have any of you ever tried mayo as the batter and then rolling it it flour or cornmeal, etc. That's how I batter up all my fried stuff. Try rubbing your Thanksgiving Turkey in Mayo as well.

Dusting the bacon with flour like Surfergirl said should make the batter stick better.

I am plenty handy in the kitchen, but chicken fried bacon is not something I will ever cook. It is on the list with pan fried oreos and fried Twinkies. I have never had either nor will I ever try them. I had my first regular Twinkie in ten years a few weeks ago and had forgotten how rich they are. Deep frying them sounds positively gross.

I definately have to disagree with this one, I fish all the time and am definately into cooking. I however don't know anything about this recipe, never heard of it.
