Welcome, gola! Don't mind Snork. He's a good kid, with good intentions. He's 16. He's afflicted with a condition I like to call "Testosterone Poisoning". It happens to most young men... You chose a very noble career. You are always welcome in me and Zink's world. She might offend you, though. She'll out-fish Jimmy Houston and rub it in! Very humbling.

Welcome to the forum. It is a very educational site,in all aspects. We went out yesterday on Ray Bob what an experience the fish weren't playing and neither was the wind. I hope ya'll have had more luck than I have lately. Good luck to all.

Welcome ggola7. My husband is taking my dad and our son out crappie fishing this afternoon. They are fun to catch and about the only species we keep around here to eat. But there's nothing like bass fishing! Nice thing about teaching is the time off for vactions, especially summers. My dad was an educator so we would leave the day school got out and return the weekend before school started in the fall. Got LOTS of great fishing in all across the country.

Sorry I have touched base since the 2/27. My Uncle died on March 3rd so the rest of the week was very hectic. We had the Rosary on Sunday evening and the funeral on Monday afternoon. My parents made it through both ceremonies (barely) I didn't get to go fishing the rest of the week. I just released my minnows in the private lake on my parents farm. I had to drive back to Grand Prairie Tuesday morning so I could be at school Tuesday evening for open house. Since I'm back at school teaching during the day and grading papers at night I can only dream about getting a hook wet. I do enjoy reading about everyone's outings and maybe one day soon I be brave enough to go out by myself. Does anyone go out fishing alone? If yes, do you have a boat or do you fish from the bank? I don't have a boat.
I have a cousin who said he was planning on entering the crappie tournament at Granger.

ggola7, I would not fish alone. I have gone with women fishing, but unless it was a pond or a lake on private property, I would not fish alone.

ggola7...everyone should be careful going anywhere alone these days. However, I have been fishing alone for many years. I am careful and watch the area around me and I do get skidish sometimes where I never did years ago. However, I will not stay away from what I love just because I might be going alone. I do have some protection and know very well how to use it and won't hesitate to protect myself. You have to do what you feel comfortable doing, if you feel uncomfortable going alone then you should try and find someone to go with you. Find a marina or barge where it's safer to fish alone.

ladies, if i may be of help.......... i am in the plano area and if any of you are looking for a safe place to fish, i recommend a little pond located at independence and rusell creek. easiest way to explain is, take 75 north to legacy, west on legacy to independence, right or north on independence pass hedgecoxe to rusell creek (which is a red light) left or west on rusell creek and you will pass a school on the right hand side. turn right or north as soon as you pass the school into a big parking lot with playgrounds on the left side. drive up a little ways and you will see the pond on the right hand side. you can park just about anywhere in the parking lot you like. this is a very safe place to fish as there is a walking sidewalk that goes all around the pond. families are here all the time as well as walkers, joggers.........i fish here a lot since i am right around the corner and the fishing is not that bad. lmb are the main fish. i am a married male with 3 kids in college with no interest in another woman. just thought i could help........take care, smitty
