A friend that I teach with told me about this forum. She said her husband is on TFF all the time and has found help on many topic, including finding someone who they hired to do yard work. I joined TFF to learn more about fishing. I love to fish for crappie and catfish. As a teacher in the DFW area, I don't get tons of free time to enjoy myself. I'm also single and generally nervous about going out alone, so, I usually wait until I have a week free from school to go down to my folks house in Taylor where I usually go fishing with family. I hope to learn from this forum and maybe venture out around JPL some time on my own.

I teach Special Education and will be off next week. I plan to hit Roberts at least once. I am not real good but do plan to have a good time. Having said that, working with who I do, it's probably noticable that I don't do normal. Shout at me next week. I'll probably have an empty back seat.

I teach 6th grade Science in Grand Prairie. I'm spending my winter break at my folks house, which is 2 miles from the Granger Dam. My great-uncle is 92 and in the Temple VA. He is more like a father to my dad than his own father and last week my great-uncle had 3 heartattacks in 3 days and it has been hard on everyone. We are basically waiting for him to go on to meet his maker. I tried to take my dad out today to get him to relax a little. We went looking for some nice crappie but came up empty. We are going to try again tomorrow at a different location. I hope the wind is not blowing as hard tomorrow as it was today. Thanks for making me feel so welcome. Sorry I rambled tonight. I normally don't go on and on.

You go right ahead and talk to us, that is what we are here for, at one time or another alot of us have had crises in our families and you will learn that you very easily turn to the TFF for support, and believe me they are always here for you.

Thanks for all the prayers and welcoming words. I went out with my dad fishing for crappie during the day for the last two days on the banks of Lake Granger. It has been so dang windy. I can't stand the wind blowing so steady so long. Needless to say we didn't catch anything, so, last night we went out and fished a well know creek from 5 til 930 pm and my dad (thank goodness) caught 6 really nice crappie and I caught three that I can keep. I know it is not much but it is better than nothing at all. I think we are going out again tonight. I really like fishing at night. I wish I lived here full time but unfortunately I don't. I have a great teaching job in Grand Prairie with the best principal in the district, so I'll probably stay at the same school until the district moves the principal. I keep telling the powers in the district that they better consult with me before they even think about moving MY principal. If I were to try and hire on in any of the school districts in the Austin area I would be taking a pay cut. The district closest in pay to what I'm making now is Round Rock and I would still be losing about $6,000 per year. I need to find a fishing buddy who could go with my at JPL so I can relax after a hard week. This is the most stressful time of the year. TAKS season stresses everyone out so much...from the principal to the students themselves. I with the state would not test these kiddos so much. (Ooops I promise myself I wouldn't get on that soapbox during my winter break) Here's to good fishin' weather and my the fish be biting.

First of all, welcome! Even though you aren't into bass fishing (yet) you might enjoy coming to the weigh-ins when the WBT, Women's Bassmaster Tour, fishes Lake Lewisville on May 18, 19 and 20. You will be inspired with the angling skills of many of these ladies.

Welcome to the board ggola7. I hope you do find some friends to fish with you at Joe Pool. If you ever head to Texoma for some bank fishing, send me an email.
Your uncle will be in my prayers. Some people are very special in our lives.
