Anyone ever seen a transducer mounted on the Jack plate? I know how I can get it on there and maintain the swing up motion if I hit something. But not sure if it best place for functionality.

It depends on why you want it there and what performace you expect it to give you. That is a common location for an imaging transducer but no other type.

they work fine, been mounting mine there for years. do yourself a favor and buy a transducer cord extension to run from the console to the back so if you break the transducer off or it goes bad all you have to do is mount a new one and run it in the steering boot and hook it back up. you can change it out in minutes.

Funny you should ask. Just today I received the jackplate mounting bracket and shield for my HBird SI transducer. I'd ordered it from these folks Transducer Shield/Saver I run a Champ 203 and have lost 3 SI transducers in the past year, all of which were transom mounted. Not sure if that was due to the deep Champ transom design or if I've just been unlucky, but I do know I lost one transducer that hadn't hit any object in the water. This bracket/shield looks pretty stout and I'm hoping it's the solution I'm looking for.
