Went to Denton creek on 2-29. Pretty good trip. I put in at the 377 bridge. There is a parking lot that they just re-did from last year so no ticket worries. Carried the yak to the water, not to long of a haul. I paddled upstream to about where the trail crossing the tracks hits the creek and turned around.

Got 15 on the stringer, 7 big females. Didn't stop to fish anywhere just trolling. There were boats out but you can hear them in time to bring your lines in and get prepared. Coming out of there people had yak envy. It's funny how quick a big stringer goes from a good thing to a bad when your arms go out and they turn into an anchor.

Thanks for the report Mudbucket. I am thinking about heading to Denton Creek Saturday morning. I have never fished or paddled there before. I was planning on putting in at the Trophy Club Park ramp. Have you ever fished down near there? Do you think there would be more boat traffic down that direction? Really any tips would be appreciated.

Last Saturday there was lots of boat traffic between the boat ramp and the 377 bridge. Most were considerate, but you had to keep your eyes open especially in the areas around the bends. I didn't put in until early afternoon and got to the last bend before the 377 bridge before I had to start paddling back to beat the nightfall.

Thanks for the info LuvPondFishing. I doubt that I will make it to the 377 bridge. I am just planning on going for the morning and paddling around a little. My son was born in January, and I haven't had much spare time. I just want to get on the water for a bit! Hopefully there won't be too many boats.

Some were ... but only a couple that didn't throttle down to near idle when they saw us or another boat.

I am hoping to be on the creek sometime this weekend even if its just for a few hours. Luckily its just up the road from me and one place I can do without any planning other than making sure I have a dollar in my wallet to get into the park.

Thanks sTODDh. Being a dad is great. I can't wait till he is old enough to fish with me.

Well, I think I am going to give it a shot early Saturday assuming nothing comes up. If there are too many boats then I will just have to turn around I suppose. I will post a report if I make it out.

There was a guy yesterday that blew threw the hole and got my feet wet. He went right through the area everyone was fishing too.

I think I'm going to try to get out there next Saturday. I'll have to scout out the parking situation on 377. I drive by there a lot and have never noticed any kind of parking lot. Otherwise, I'll probably put in at Trophy Club park and just see how far I can get.
