I think at 500 you become extreme angler or something like that. It is in the main menu box to the top left of the screen

at cedar hill sp its a [censored] shoot. as long as the water is up and depending on the time of the year there is a good cove on the south side of the park that gets good sandy action and some catfishing. a cove even further south, behind the furthest campgrouds has decent catfishing. avoid the third cove north as if you take the hill up the campgrounds all the way up and look to your left you'll see that the water is only 1-3 feet the entire way through. i've never causht anything there. many old timers swear by the fishing pier straight across the lake from the crappie barge. but that also means that there are a ton of old timers sitting on that barge all day and night catching a few crappie each the entire time they are there.

if you want much better fishing action on joe pool considering camping at loyd park. it consistently produces numbers. the fishing piers are good for crappie and sunfish. the one on the main lake i've caught sandies, crappie, and carp in numbers. there's an under water channel about 10-15' in front of it that runs pretty deep. a lot of crappie can be found suspended in it. loyd and walnut creeks are also perennial favorites. the mouth of loyd creek you will find crappie and catfish. a few more crappie and drum can be caught all the way up to the spillway as with my most productive rigs being roostertails and roadrunners. walnut creek i've caught just about everything including some decent sized bass. sandies will run through there in the right time of the year. don't leave a stringer in the water. i've never been able to do that in those creeks without at least a snake or a snapping turtle hanging with half eaten fish in their mouths. there are some areas in the park with superior bass, carp, and catfishing but i feel i've given you a pretty good head start and the rest should be left to exploring. hint: don't skimp on the smaller waters. they hold surprisingly healthy numbers of healthy sized fish in some of them. hint2: for some reason the fish like minnows more than any jig combo i've ever given them. jigs work. but they don't always work

don't be dismayed by what many people call a poor fishing lake. my best fishing day came out of that lake when i walked away with all legal all full limits of crappie, sandies, a few healthy sized catfish, and about 20 eating sized perch. i must have spent most the night cleaning those things.

FAQ link near the top of the page ... seventh question down, "What are these titles about?"

definitely. i exclusively bank fish. if its super cold try loyd creek. a lot of people fish the mouth of the creek. you could do that or you could explore the creek. it's not very long at all but there are pockets in the creek where you just look at them and say, "yup, that looks fishy". and you'd be right.
