Huntsville State Park has Lake Raven. Good little bass lake and it's got some good sized bass in it.

Lake Mineral Wells. Fished there a lot form 1999-2009. moved after that. Caught a gazillion catfish in the boat there.Last trip was May of 2009. For two years there was a tree washed up in about 3 feet of water directly out from the mouth of the creek that feeds the lake. Sat at that tree with a slip bobber and worms and caught many fat 2-5 pound channel cats. All the stumps on the north end. Same set up, just casting to each one. The eastern shoreline (opposite side of creek mouth, same setup, casting to weed edges, stumps, and rocks. Caught many small bass this way too on white spinner baits. Biggest cove on the lake near waterfront campgrounds. Many crappie among the stumps. this lake has a lot of crappie in it.

I will tell you everything I know bc i do not fish there anymore. i loved that lake. water was never more than 4 feet low even in the 2007 drought. No ski boats or jet skis. I have a 14 jon boat so it was the perfect size lake.

Mike

I have been to purtis creek and that place is a good lake to fish. Early morning fishing is Great. I caught a 8 and a half Largemouth bass on topwater.

Love them.Great for kids. When it's hot in the middle of day, most have great swim holes.Gates close at night, they make their rounds, noise level is kept in control. They have piers, lighted.Hot and cold showers. And most have hiking trails.Fishing is nice too.

I like the sense of security I have when my truck is parked and I am on the lake. It may be a false sense, but better than some public boat ramps. I pick most ramps based off of that.
