Intellect. Best retention of lessons learned during practice and past events. Adjusts to changing conditions quicker and better than anyone. He's one of the few anglers on tour whose weights increase every day throughout an event, a large percentage of the time. He HATES to lose and truly believes he is going to win every event he fishes. As he likes to say..."It's all about the attitude"

his mental toughness is incredible...I think thats his greatest attribute.
Doesnt matter the field, lake, event, weather, etc...he competes to win, not to just survive, not to just earn a check, not to make the classic the next year, not for angler of the year...competes to win.
That is stacked on top of his skillset...and it makes for the success he has.

I was just thinking why he never mentions the Lord and what he has done for him...like many of the other anglers.
Maybe I have missed it?

why is he so superior in the BASS competitions? You look up Bassmaster in the dictionary, and it says. "See KVD". That and he was taught by Chuck Norris!

It is attention to detail. Look at any great angler and that is what made them great. Buck perry very attentive to detail. Mike long same way. Bill murphy awesome attention to detail. That is the key ingredient. It lays the groundwork for all other great traits.

His ability to adapt to change is like no one else's out there. Fouz basically said it dead on. The guy is beyond confident and it shows.
