Man throw a tilapia swimbait or A rig with tilapia or shad pattern, on ledges, but run them down the ledge parallel to it. You may have to play with the retrieve some to figure out exactly what they want. Or find a drain with hydrilla in it and fish will be there somewhere. Or if you come on a windy point or stretch that makes the water cloudy get a red craw pattern rattle trap and work it good through the area. Hope this helps. Let me know when you get back when you get back.

I emailed Kurt Dove and he emailed me right back (Thanks Kurt, that is awesome you would do that!) and he said that a cold front was headed that way but he has seen some to start moving up shallow. He said 10-15 feet is getting it done right now. I am headed down in two weeks and he feels the spawn will be in full force!!! I can't wait!!

good grass is the key for quality fish. no if, ands, or buts about it. they may like a crankbait one day and a spinnerbait the next.
FB jigs and hard bottoms will catch them there 365 days a year.
swimbaits oughta get really going when it warms up some more, for me at least. guys been catching them on them but not me yet.

Heading out there tomorrow and staying through the weekend...anybody started noticing any spawning activity with the warm weather despite the dam being opened up right now?

Anybody been consistent at particular depths yet? Still staging/pre-spawn?

I'll give a report of our outing next week.

all of the above. some fish on beds, some staging, and I bet a few already done. Personally, I look for rock banks and fish a little further out using jigs hoping to find the roamers out there thinking about doing their thing up shallower. anytime you find quality grass I would crank it, ratl trap it over the top of grass or run a swimbait or swim jig in. best of luck
