I'd like to get my wife some pearls for our 25th anniversary. Some questions...

> Are pearls still "in"? I think they look sexy.
> How do I know what I'm buying? Cultured vs. freshwater, etc.
> I want to get 'quality'. How much should expect to spend?
> How long should the strand be?
> Any suggestions on who to do business with in the Metroplex?

Thanks tons, hb

Go to Sam's and buy a nice string of matched pearls. The quality is good and the price can't be beaten.

Has she even expressed the desire for pearls? Is she the type of women that would want them? I think pearls are really nice, but when would I get to wear them? On the boat fishing? Maybe when I went back to Texhoma on the High Point Marina! If she is a traditional type of women then pearls would be perfect and being that you are a fishermen maybe some how you can incorpoate the two together when you give them to her. Say have her help you get your poles ready and while she is spooling a reel you can place them on a line and slide them down to her. Someone did something like that with a wedding ring in a movie but it was thread. Women get into the creative stuff, even us non traditional women. We all love sappy stuff.
Anyway you know your wife better then anyone else. 25 years is alot to be celebrating in itself. Congrat's on building a great foundation for the rest of your life, she will love what ever you decide to do, because it is you.

Have you thought about a Mother's Braclet with pearls? That way she can wear it everyday. Normally, people have the names of their children and if there are grandchildren you can incorporate their birthstones. Let me know if you are interested. I know where you can have georgous ones made!

Bonus: You will have money left over for a romantic weekend!

I don't know about other women, but I can tell you this: The only thing I would want is possibly bring back that first falling in love feeling. Rekindling so to speak. Not so much the possessions you can give now but the memories you have already given and have to come. To many people get into the routine that they forget what got them there and to take the time out make more "sappy" memories and have that look in my eyes and the heart racing fast (just knowing that the person you love is right there)
If you are looking for a place to take her away for the weekend. There is a place in Glen Rose called Country Woods Inn. It was $125 a night, about 4 years ago. I stayed in the cabin in the woods, close to the Chapel and the carriage house. Unfortunatley I went alone, but it was a great birthday treat for myself and would be a perfect anniversary weekend. Their # is 817.279.3002. They are also found on the web through virtual cities travel. I will look it up and tell you later.

http://www.countrywoodsinn.com/ you can look around through some of the travel discounts and see if they can get you a better deal but they run about $125 to $150. The cabin in the woods is not listed at the top but it is on the map. It is a little wood frame home with a porch on the back with a table and chairs, stuffed back in the woods (where no one can see you). The inside is all sortof cozy looking with over stuffed pillows and wood decor. The kitchen is old time stove and refridgerator. There was a big over sized tub with the jets in it and the bed was really soft and comfortable. It had real springs, just like my grandmas home. NO TV, NO PHONES a perfect weekend away, and real close to the historical district and the river. I don't know when Promise is going on but there is always things going on around there. I fell in love with it and promise to go back again some day.

There is nothing more elegant than a string of cultured pearls. They thrive being worn often. Be sure to get a strand that is knotted between each pearl. The length should be just a little longer than the choker length so they fall just below her neckline. She is a very lucky lady to have a man that is as thoughtful as you are. Congratulations.

I purchased a nice set of pearls for my wife on our 5th anniversary last year. I went with Mikimoto Pearls, they were not cheap but she is worth it.

Pearls are a classic and elegant gift that will last for many years and gain value with time, when we eventually have children that will be one of the items that will be passed down the line whether it be for a daughter or a son to give to his significant other when the time is right. You can't go wrong with pearls.
