If getting one, I would strongly suggest a tritoon. Rated for more horsepower. Strakes also help the lift and getting it on top of water instead of pushing it. 22' with 125 runs 32 gps with slight chop. Loading in wind can be rough at times, so trailer guides are useful.
Hoping to get trolling motor soon. opting for the 80lb I-pilot on mine.

I tried it once (briefly)didn't like it at all. Like trying to fish from an empty beer can, wind blows you all over the place.

OK if you can tie up to fish, trolling motor is hard to hold.

I had a 20' model with a 40 HP and it wouldn't go much. Thought I was going to die one time when a lightning storm popped up fast. When it's time to run for cover I like to RUN.

I had a 24' with a Johnson 90 on it for years. From what I've seen you don't get a lot of payoff with a bigger motor. You'll get a few mph but you will burn a LOT more fuel. I would have saved thousands of $ over the years had I not opted to upgrade from the 45 that came stock on it. We had a big 24V trolling motor on it, but everyone else is right. If there is any wind at all it's not worth it.

I've had two pontoons. The first one was a 20' with a 40hp Mercury. The second one was a 21' with a 90hp Mecury. I loved both boats, the only issues I had with them was the trolling motor not being able to handle the boat in the wind. If I ever buy another one it will have a 100lb thrust trolling motor on it or a 20hp outboard for a trolling motor. ROTFLMAO.....

I do like being able to get up and move around freely and relax on the couch. I never had any issues getting in and out of anywhere I wanted to fish. I fished creeks, trees and anywhere else I wanted to go... my two cents....................... laugh

I have a tri-toon with a 175hp 4S. I have to agree that Toons are hard to control in the wind unless you are trolling or drop anchor, but the stability and comfort is unbeatable.

The 175 gives me enough GO to get me out of situations that you don't want to be in and since mine has the lifting strakes, I can cut thru the chop pretty good while others struggle with the up and down that the waves cause lighter boats to deal with.

Toons aren't for everyone, but for what I want and like - its perfect.

You have to keep in mind that everything in life is some sort of compromise. Pontoons are great when you don’t need to go fast (unless you have a tritoon with two 300 HP as the speed record holder does), they provide lots of comfort and relaxation. They are a bear to load on a trailer in the wind and hard to keep in one spot under those conditions.
That is why I have a 25 ft pontoon and a Tracker V18, than you can enjoy the best of both worlds.

make sure you mount the lights high if u get one, Ivew almost run into several pontoon boats at night, because the lights are obscured by something or another.
Ive also seewn people strugling to get them loaded on the trailers, even if u have to do some customization, make sure the trailer is made so its safe and easy to load under all conditions.
Personally I wouldnt want one as a primary fishing rig, I think if you have to bring the couch and bathroom with you, you should just stay home.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

I have a tritoon with a 150. It is 22foot long and I love it. I put a 75 ft lb. I can do about anything other boats will do. It will go 44 MPH with me and a full tank of gas.

Do any of ya'll have a deck boat. Wondering if it would be much different than a pontoon for fishing.
