I am going to order some 3/4"x 8' fiberglass rods to make me some shallow water anchors. The shipping is the same whether I order 2 or 20 rods. So if anyone around the Paris area is interested in getting some fiberglass rods, I can order them all together and save all of us on the shipping and handling.

Just making a comparison. Lol. They are essentially the working man's power pole.

Drawout,
8' is the longest They can ship on UPS or Fedex. Anything longer has to be shipped by truck, then you are talking big bucks for shipping.

My Powerpole and my friends Talon are both 8' we catfish and they are excellent if you move very much. Work great in 6-7' of water unless it's really blowing hard. I usually don't fish over 3' in spring anyway. If the 8' Powerpole doesn't hold it's to bad to be on the water safely. I also have an 8' Stakeout stick, same thing he is talking about ordering and they work real well.

I started just using 2 box anchors instead of the poles, put one on each side out the front, if you are shallow you don't have to have them but a few feet from the boat, they hold great and you don't have any fire drills because they come loose

I'm still not sure I can just go and leave my shallow poles at home yet, but I'll work on it. Those anchors will allow you to fish the deep stuff better...(5-7 ft)

The 3/4" rods are $18 plus shipping. The 1" are about $28 a piece plus shipping. Shipping is around $36. I live about a 100 miles N.E. of Dallas, so I think it would be a little far from Austin.
