Jeesh Hooker! Now give this some thought, you may have a bullseye on your house/possesions so I would ask the police to do a few drive bys if they can once in a while and I would certainly be very EXTRA cautious for a while. I don't know how long between these 2 instances but the odds of this happening to one guy is fairly low I would guess. We've all seen the reports where a criminal(s) will stake out a house or person and follow them, looking for a good time to strike.

BE CAREFUL!!!

No doubt he will be filling out a police report next week when he returns to find an empty boat. It will be a hard leason learned.
I'm with Nautilus, I can't leave one rod out when I go in to pay for gas. All my compartments are locked when I am not on the lake.

Glad to have taken..."the trash in the back!"

Today we left to go to the store, 15 min later we were driving into our driveway, and our Pick up was exiting the garage--Stopped in front of it and jumped out--a complete stranger was sitting there looking at me, we DETAINEED him until the police came, seems he slipped into our open garage, went into the house and found the keys, nothing else taken from the house---Damnd Thieves !!!!!
Whoa!! How did you NOT kick the ever living **** out of him? Was it just a kid or what?

I went to school with a guy that caught someone trying to use a slim jim to get into his truck. He crept up behind the "slim jimmer", grabbed him by the back to the neck and put his head through the window he was trying to get into. When the police came he told them, "I dunno, I found him this way."

Haha! That is hilarious Cokeman.

When I was at Texas Tech a couple of years ago, a good buddy of mine who is a very light sleeper thought he heard some noises outside. In Lubbock, for the most part, the driveways are in the front of the houses, not in the back with an alley or anything. So he gets his baseball bat and slowly opens the front door. Mike is part Japanese so obviously he's got some stealth skills that us poor redneck folk would never know about. wink He sees 2 guys crouched down trying to pry a screw driver into his doorlock and he tip toes across his lawn behind them. He takes that baseball bat and slugs one of them Barry Bonds style right across the back with it. The other guy jumps up and immediately takes off running down the street. The guy that got hit was obviously stunned pretty bad but he managed to get on his feet and run. He made it to the middle of the street and just fell face first in his tracks. Mike ran inside and called the police and when he went back out the guy was gone. I don't know if his buddy came back and drug him off or if he was just able to get up again. Either way, they never got caught but one of them sure did get what he deserved.

My car got stolen in April so I was really mad about that. But, in the end it all worked out for the best. Insurance ended up giving me more for it that I could have sold it for and I was able to get my first bass boat out of the deal, so I can't complain too much. However, I can't stand thieves. In my opinion, they are the scum of this good earth and I love stories like Hooker and Mike catching them in the act.

Two years ago I got my first boat, a Tahoe Q3 fish/ski. The week before springbreak, when I woke up, my boat was gone out of the driveway. We had a chain locked around it but they cut the lock, hooked it up to their truck and left. After about two weeks, someone called in about a stolen boat in an alley, in downtown McAllen,Tx. Sure enough it was my boat, but they never found the guys who stole it. At least I got it back. Now we have two chained locks around it, a trailer lock, and a motion light pointed on it. They will never mess with my boat again. laugh

There is a lot of theft out there these days. Lots of people make a good living via opportunistic theft - like the rods above. Then the stolen stuff is fenced on ebay for cold cash. Sad but we really have a lot of bad people in the country.

That guy that left his rods out is a complete fool. If I have the boat behind the truck and we stop to eat I try to leave it were I can see it. I would sure love to catch someone stealing my truck or worse my fishing gear. I would probably be typing from jail for awahile. eek

Just to update, took my TT back today to find the same boat there and although the rods were obviously gone, he had used the boat over the weekend. He managed to leave a towable tube strapped to the back. Makes me think that since someone probably made off woth the rods, he had to find something else to do. Also, the fish finder was gone, but noticed that the one by the steering wheel was still there. I can't believe some people when it comes to just leaving their stuff out. Like all those mentioned above, I am way over cautious these days about my stuff. It just costs too darn much to replace.
